I was going to replace the tips anyway so i just unbolted them and ran no tips stra.

The rattle and kinkle is made more throaty. It does appear to change the sound for the better. Not only can they look impressive like very impressive but a good tip can also alter the sound of your exhaust system. Do exhaust tips make a difference in sound.
